Where visitors stay in Las Vegas

Las Vegas hotels are mostly on the four-mile Strip, and where on it matters. The center, between Flamingo and Spring Mountain, has the most within walking distance and the highest prices; the south end is near the airport and the stadium; the north end is quieter and cheaper with longer walks; downtown on Fremont Street is older, cheaper and louder; and the off-Strip resorts in Summerlin and Henderson are for people with a car who want a pool without the crowd.

  1. 01

    Center Strip

The resorts around the Bellagio fountains and the Forum Shops, with the most restaurants, shows and casinos on foot. The convenient and expensive choice.

    Suits: First visits, shows, walking

  2. 02

    South Strip

The big resorts from Mandalay Bay north, near the airport, the stadium and the arena. A long walk or a tram to the center.

    Suits: Events, airport closeness, pools

  3. 03

    Downtown and Fremont Street

The original casinos under the canopy, cheaper rooms, live music on the street and the Arts District nearby. A 15-minute ride to the Strip.

    Suits: Budgets, nightlife, repeat visitors

  4. 04

    Off the Strip

Resorts in Summerlin and Henderson with locals' casinos, quiet pools and Red Rock Canyon close by. You will want a car.

    Suits: Families, hikers, quiet

Good to know

Resort fees are added at the desk
Nearly every Strip hotel adds a nightly resort fee on top of the room rate. The Expedia listing shows it; compare the total, not the headline.
Weekdays are half the price
Sunday to Thursday rates are often a fraction of Friday and Saturday. Conventions move prices too; check the week before you pick dates.

Questions before you book

Where should I stay for a first visit?

Center Strip, if the budget allows. Most of what a first-timer wants is within a 15-minute walk, and the trams and buses cover the rest.

Is downtown safe?

Fremont Street itself is busy and patrolled. The blocks around it thin out quickly; use a ride app at night rather than walking far.

How do I book a hotel from this page?

Each "See hotels" button opens Expedia's hotel search for that part of Las Vegas, with live rates, photos, reviews and the cancellation terms. You book and pay there. All Travel Fun earns a commission on bookings made through those links; it does not change what you pay.

Can your agents book the hotel over the phone?

Our agents book flights. Call to price the flight to Las Vegas; book the room on Expedia once your dates are fixed.
