Where visitors stay in Lagos
Lagos divides into the Island and the Mainland, joined by bridges that jam for hours. Victoria Island has the international hotels, the offices and the restaurants; Ikoyi is the quieter, greener district next to it; Lekki Phase 1 is the newer residential area past the toll gate with rentals and boutique hotels; and Ikeja, on the Mainland, holds the airport and the hotels around it. Most visitors stay on the Island and build the airport run into the plan.

- Plan the airport run
- The Island to the airport is 45 minutes with no traffic and three hours with it. Hotels arrange drivers; leave early for an evening departure.
- Serviced apartments are common
- Many visitors staying a week or more rent a serviced apartment in Ikoyi or Lekki rather than a hotel. Expedia lists both.

Questions before you book
Which area is safest to stay in?
Victoria Island and Ikoyi are the districts visitors and expatriates use, with hotel security and drivers as the norm. Move by car and avoid walking at night anywhere in the city.
Is Ikeja worth staying in?
Only for the airport. It is an hour or more from the Island's restaurants and sights.
