What to do in Lagos
Lagos is huge, loud and rewarding if you plan by area. Victoria Island, Ikoyi and Lekki hold most hotels and the art galleries; Lagos Island has the old city and the museum; the beaches are a boat ride away; and Badagry, the slave port, is a long day west. Most callers are visiting family. A guide with a car, booked by the day, is the normal way for a visitor to see it.
01
Lekki Conservation Centre canopy walk
A long canopy walkway over wetland forest with monkeys below, on the Lekki peninsula. A morning, before the heat.
02
Nike Art Gallery and the Lekki arts market
Four floors of Nigerian art and textiles in one of the largest galleries in West Africa, then the stalls of the arts and crafts market.
03
Badagry slave route
The port, the barracoons, the museums and the Point of No Return across the lagoon, with a guide. About two hours west; a full day.
04
Tarkwa Bay by boat
A sheltered beach reached by boat from Victoria Island, with surfers and food shacks. Half day.
05
Lagos Island, Freedom Park and the National Museum
The colonial old town, the prison turned into a park and the museum's bronzes and masks. A city day by car.
06
Food and nightlife
Suya at night, jollof and pepper soup by day and the music scene on the Island. Guides know which venues are on and how to get home.

Questions before you book
Is Lagos safe for visitors?
With a guide and a driver, staying in the Island districts and avoiding walking at night, visitors come and go without trouble. The precautions matter more than in most cities.
When is the best time to go?
November to February is the dry season. December is the party month, when the diaspora comes home and flights and hotels fill up.
How do I book these tours?
Each "See tours" button opens Viator's listings for that experience in Lagos, with live prices, dates, reviews and the cancellation terms. You book and pay there. All Travel Fun earns a commission on bookings made through those links; it does not change what you pay.
Can your agents book tours over the phone?
Our agents book flights. Call to price the flight to Lagos; book the tours on Viator once your dates are fixed.
