Where visitors stay in Lima
Lima's visitor districts sit on the cliffs above the Pacific, south of the center. Miraflores is the main one, with most hotels, the parks and the restaurants; Barranco is the smaller bohemian district next door with the bars and the art; San Isidro is the business and embassy district with the upscale hotels. The historic center, 30 to 45 minutes north, has a few hotels on the plazas and is better visited than slept in.

Good to know
- The airport is far from everywhere
- Callao is 45 to 90 minutes from Miraflores depending on the hour. Book a hotel transfer or an airport taxi counter; do not pick a cab outside.
- Grey skies are normal
- From May to November a sea mist covers the coast. The hotels and the food are the same; the sunsets are not.

Questions before you book
Miraflores or Barranco?
Miraflores for convenience, choice and walking the cliffs; Barranco for character and evenings. They adjoin, so either works for both.
Should I stay in Lima before Cusco?
One or two nights, yes. It breaks the journey and gives you the food. Cusco's altitude is easier after a night at sea level.
How do I book a hotel from this page?
Each "See hotels" button opens Expedia's hotel search for that part of Lima, with live rates, photos, reviews and the cancellation terms. You book and pay there. All Travel Fun earns a commission on bookings made through those links; it does not change what you pay.
Can your agents book the hotel over the phone?
