Where visitors stay in Guatemala City and Antigua
Visitors to Guatemala sleep in Antigua, the colonial town an hour from the airport, and treat the capital as the airport. Antigua's center has boutique hotels in old houses; its outskirts have the coffee-farm hotels with volcano views. In Guatemala City, Zona 10 is the safe hotel-and-restaurant district 20 minutes from the terminal for a late arrival or an early flight. Lake Atitlan, three hours away, is the other base, with Panajachel as its town.
