What to do in Paris
Paris is compact and the Metro reaches all of it, so the planning is about tickets, not transport. The Eiffel Tower summit, the Louvre and Versailles all use timed entry and the good slots go weeks ahead. Montmartre, the Marais and the Seine are for walking. Versailles is 45 minutes out; Giverny and the Normandy beaches are long days. Tours meet at the sights or at a Metro exit.
01
Eiffel Tower summit with timed entry
The elevator to the second floor and the summit, with a guide or a reserved slot. Sunset slots are the ones that vanish first.
02
Louvre with a guide
A two to three hour route to the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo and the Winged Victory without losing a morning to the maze. Closed Tuesdays.
03
Versailles palace and gardens
The Hall of Mirrors, the apartments and the gardens, with the fountains playing on weekends in season. Half day by train or a full day with Marie Antoinette's estate. Closed Mondays.
04
Seine dinner cruise
The bridges and the lit facades from the water, with a seated dinner. Earlier sightseeing cruises are shorter and cheaper.
05
Montmartre walk and a food tour
Sacre-Coeur, the artists' square and the lanes below, or a cheese, bread and wine walk through the Marais or Saint-Germain.
06
Giverny or the Normandy D-Day beaches
Monet's garden is a half day; Omaha Beach, the American cemetery and Pointe du Hoc are a 13 to 14 hour day from Paris.

Why book through Viator
Book the Paris tours before you fly, without locking yourself in.
Viator lists tours and excursions from local operators in Paris with live availability, verified reviews and 24/7 support. We send you there because it is the simplest way to compare, and it earns us a commission that does not change your price.
- Free cancellation on most experiences
- Cancel up to 24 hours before the start on most listings for a full refund. Plans change; the booking can.
- Reserve now, pay later
- Many experiences let you hold a spot now and pay closer to the date, so you can lock in the popular day without paying before the flight is booked.
- Reviews from people who went
- Ratings and reviews come from travelers who booked that exact tour. Read the recent ones before you choose.
- Compare before you land
- The hotel tour desk sells what it has left that morning. Booking ahead means you pick the operator, the time and the pickup, with the price in front of you.
Cancellation and payment terms are set per listing and shown on Viator before you book. Check them for the tour you pick.
Good to know
- Know the closing days
- The Louvre closes Tuesdays, Versailles and the Orsay close Mondays. Build the week around that before booking anything.
- Pickpockets work the sights
- Around the tower, on the Metro and at Montmartre. Front pockets, zipped bags, and ignore the petition clipboards and the string bracelets.

Questions before you book
How early should I book Eiffel Tower tickets?
The tower's own site releases slots about two months ahead and summit tickets go fast. Guided tours hold their own allocations and are the fallback when the site shows nothing.
Is Versailles a half day or a full day?
The palace alone is a half day. With the gardens, the Trianons and the queen's hamlet it is a full one, and worth it in fountain season.
How do I book these tours?
Each "See tours" button opens Viator's listings for that experience in Paris, with live prices, dates, reviews and the cancellation terms. You book and pay there. All Travel Fun earns a commission on bookings made through those links; it does not change what you pay.
Can your agents book tours over the phone?
