What to do in Toronto
Toronto is a city of neighborhoods strung along a lakefront, and the one thing almost every visitor wants is outside it: Niagara Falls, about 80 miles south-west. In town, the CN Tower, the islands, the market and the Distillery District fill two days without a car. Tours leave from downtown hotels and from the Union Station area.
01
Niagara Falls day trip
The boat to the base of the Horseshoe Falls, time at the brink, and usually a stop in Niagara-on-the-Lake or at a winery. Nine to ten hours; some tours add the Journey Behind the Falls.
02
CN Tower and the EdgeWalk
The observation deck and glass floor are the standard; the EdgeWalk is a harnessed walk around the outside of the pod, 1,168 feet up, for those who want it.
03
Toronto Islands by ferry or kayak
Car-free islands ten minutes across the harbour with beaches, bike paths and the skyline view every photo of Toronto is taken from. Bike or kayak tours run in season.
04
St. Lawrence Market and Distillery District food walk
Peameal bacon sandwiches, the Victorian industrial lanes of the Distillery District and Kensington Market's mix of everything. Three hours, lots of samples.
05
Casa Loma and the Hockey Hall of Fame
A full Gothic Revival castle in midtown and the Stanley Cup downtown. Both are indoor days for winter visits.

- Compare before you land
- The hotel tour desk sells what it has left that morning. Booking ahead means you pick the operator, the time and the pickup, with the price in front of you.
Cancellation and payment terms are set per listing and shown on Viator before you book. Check them for the tour you pick.
Good to know
- Niagara is long but easy
- Allow a full day. Tours handle the parking and the boat line. If you would rather go on your own, GO trains and buses run from Union Station in summer.
- Passports for the US side
- The Canadian side has the better view of the falls and that is where the tours go. Crossing the Rainbow Bridge to the US side is optional and needs your passport.
