Which zone?
Jamaica's resorts line the north and west coasts and nearly all of them are all-inclusive. Montego Bay's own strip and Rose Hall are minutes from the airport; Falmouth and Trelawny, half an hour east, hold several of the largest resorts in the Caribbean; Ocho Rios, 90 minutes east, is the excursion base by the waterfalls; and Negril, 90 minutes west, has Seven Mile Beach's low-rise resorts and the cliff hotels. Reggae, jerk and the rum punch come with every one of them.

Montego Bay and Rose Hall

What all-inclusive means here
- What the package covers
- Room, all meals, drinks including Jamaican rum and Red Stripe, pools, non-motorized water sports, the kids' clubs and the entertainment. Many Jamaican resorts include the airport transfer and some include tips; the listing says.
- What it does not
- Spa, motorized sports, excursions to the falls and the lagoon, the catamaran cruises at some resorts, and departure tax if it is not already in the airfare.
- Couples-only and family brands
- Jamaica is home to the couples-only all-inclusive. Several brands are adults-only across the island; others are built for families with water parks. Check the policy on the listing.
When to go
- December to April
- Dry, warm and peak-priced, with Christmas and spring break the busiest weeks.
- May to August
- Warm and humid with brief showers, lower rates and the Reggae Sumfest crowds in Montego Bay in July.
- September to November
- Hurricane season and the lowest rates; many resorts offer weather guarantees. Late November is a good-value window.

Negril or Montego Bay?
Negril for the beach itself and the sunsets, at the cost of a 90-minute transfer each way. Montego Bay and Trelawny for the short transfer, the golf and the larger resorts.
Does the flight come with the package?
