Where visitors stay in Vancouver

Vancouver's downtown is a peninsula you can walk across in half an hour, and most hotels are on it. Coal Harbour and the central core face the mountains and the cruise port; Yaletown is the converted warehouse district with the restaurants; the West End sits between the shopping streets and Stanley Park; Kitsilano is the beach neighborhood across the bridge. The airport is 25 minutes south by SkyTrain.

Good to know

The SkyTrain is the airport transfer
The Canada Line runs from the terminal to downtown in about 25 minutes. A taxi is not faster at rush hour.
Summer books out
Cruise season from May to September fills downtown, especially on ship days. Spring and fall are easier and still mild.

Questions before you book

Which area is best without a car?

Downtown, Yaletown and the West End. The park, the seawall and Granville Island are all on foot, by bike or by the little ferries.

Should I stay in Whistler instead?

If skiing or the mountains are the point, yes, for part of the trip. Whistler is two hours away and day trips from Vancouver run daily.

How do I book a hotel from this page?

Each "See hotels" button opens Expedia's hotel search for that part of Vancouver, with live rates, photos, reviews and the cancellation terms. You book and pay there. All Travel Fun earns a commission on bookings made through those links; it does not change what you pay.

Can your agents book the hotel over the phone?

Our agents book flights. Call to price the flight to Vancouver; book the room on Expedia once your dates are fixed.
